Flagging tape for training to electric?

Is it worthwhile to put florescent flagging tape along fences for better visibility?

I also placed buckets of grain along the outside of the fencing, one on each side. So far I've seen the cows get zapped a few times and not get any grain.

Would love to hear any other tricks on training to the hot wire! I'm pretty sure none are going to come to a grain bucket ever again though... which is my only real backup for escapees at this time.

we put tape up along the fence and that was it we had some that would run and jump in the new pastures but seen the tape (cause we mowed a huge stripe around where the fence went) and they stopped and got closer to look at it then turned around and keep running and jumping around kinda funny to watch but we only ever had one cow get out out of like 300 or so and about 10 years so i guess thats pretty good

but it was a jersey that watched us all day putting the fence up from the other pasture and we keep jumping over the fence to get to the other side and then jumped back to get tools and more fence well that night she tried it and was out walking around in the yard and we had to put her back through the barn she did it again so we just locked her in the barn she never jumped over the fence again

We cut Walmart (or any other store) plastic bags into strips about 1" wide & 5" long, then tie them around the wire every 5 feet or so. The cows, being naturally nosy, come up to check out the plastic strip and invariably get their nose on the wire. Cheap & effective.

I just put up wire. Never have marked it.

The only problem I have had is with new calves. They seem to get shocked and jump forward. I now put them into a fenced area with a wire running somewhere inside of it. They will touch it, jump, and after 2 or so shocks, will avoid it.

We mark ours with the flagging tape. have also cut up a plastic bag when needed! I am convinced it helps with training, and also helps the deer see it and keep from knocking it out
