cows come in heat every 18-21 days. Once she comes in a full standing heat you only have 12-18 hours for a really good chance to be bred. If anything occured after that the chances are fewere and fewer and after 24 hours she probably would not be bred at all. At her age she has probably had at leat 3-4 heat cycles. It also depends on her body condition and health. If she has not been fed properly and is very thin or not feeling well she more than likely will not come into heat. So to answer your question, yes she could possible be bred, but only if she was in a good standing heat when the bull was put with her. You can take her to your local vet in about 30-40 days after she was with that bull and he can check to see if she is bred. Look for signs of heat also. If you don't have any other cattle with her it sometimes can be hard to detect. She will have a discharge of clear looking slime or slight bloody mucas. She will just act like she is grouchy sometimes! If she is with other cattle they may but heads with each other, or they will lay their heads on the tail head of the one that is in heat and they will try to mount the one that is in heat. If the one that is standing on the ground stands STILL and lets the other cow mount her then she is in heat. A full standing heat. You have to check twice a day for signs of heat. You will need to check early in the mornings and late in the afternoon into the evenings. Good luck with your heifer. If you have any more questions I would be more than glad to help you.
