Another cow question

Sorry to ask so many questions. But what does early bred mean? Does it probably mean first three months?
We have always had various animals but never a milk cow. We had them while I was growing up, but then you don't care about that part . lol
Thanks again for all the help. And thanks from the cow too...she is VERY thankful for this board.

Me too...you know how people at an auction can be sometimes. She came from a dairy the week before so it is possible she is bred. I really hope so. She has one quarter that IS dry. I imagine that is why the dairy got rid of her. But that will be all the milk we need out of the other three..lol
I am really thinking all the stress has her trying to dry up , if she does it will be ok. She is the sweetest thing. Already when I am milking her she turns and looks at me and tries to lick me...silly cow.
But man does she have a long tail. A long swishy tail....a long hard swishy tail....but a cute tail.

That is why the end hairs on the tail are called the "Switch".

I also wouldn't dry a cow off knowing for sure if she is/isn't pregnant.
Nine (plus!) months is a looooong time to feed a dry cow.
(Don't ask how I know that one! Part of my years ago "cow newbie" learnin'-the-hard-way experience.......)

Hate to see others make the same mistake....it can be an "expensive" (and frustrating!!!!) lesson!

Our old Blossom would do this every milking for about a month after she calved. But instead of trying to lick me she would snuffle and huff and try to suck me up her huge nostrils......was a bit scary the first few times.
