sick steer

I have a steer calf that is having trouble breathing and is foaming/frothing at the mouth. I was wondering what might be wrong with him. It started about two days ago. he is 14 -16 weeks old. About two weeks age he had been treated for an infection (tetnis?), seriously, the vet came gave him two different shots, gave us a seringe and said give him one shot per day for the next 3 days and gave us not other information. I guess we should have asked but he was in and out without a hi, how are you or anything. The steer did better but has had fast and shallow breathing ever since and has gone downhill the last two days.

I think you better call the vet quick and ask what he was treating and get him to follow up. Doesn't sound like he is responding to treatment and his respiratory problem (pneumonia?) is getting worse. This calf may not last long if he isn't treated soon. I seriously doubt he has been treated for tetnus and that doesn't sound like his current problem.

Sure ssounds like pneumonia. Get the vet there and have him treated for it With the heat and humidity that is rolling in this time of yr it real makes any problems really show up. The vet should IV a animal that sick and leave you with fallow up drugs.
