Ouch

Wrangler Bermudagrass seed $7.00/pound in a 50 pound bag. That's $350 for one bag! I like the sod Bermudagrass sets up, and it's great for hot weather grass production... but the price! That's harsh.

I planted Wrangler at a rate of 4 lbs. per acre last year and got a decent stand. It was $6.00 then and hurt pretty bad as well. I do believe in planting all the bermuda grass I can get to grow. The stuff absolutely performs well when it gets water and fertilizer after the cooler weather perennials give out. It hays well and the hardiness of it stands up well to hoof traffic as well....

Get all you can at today's prices. When on-farm diesel goes to $6.00 this fall, those combines may be carrying $10 a pound seed out of the field.

I prefer to plant 8-10 pounds/acre with a Brillion seeder for establishing a new stand. I suppose I will bite the bullet and buy some one of these days - If I can get my hand to write the check! Check writing hand vs. brain, LOL.
