Milking the cow
I just wanted to say how much I am enjoying my sweet cow... and the milk too!
There are many mornings when I do NOT want to get up and go out there... but thats just my lazy bone talking.
Once I get out there and start milking, it goes well and I just love it.
Today, the kids had used all the milk, my gallon jar was empty... when I came back in and strained that half gallon of beautiful white milk into the jar it was such a satisfying feeling.
I'd reckon we dont spend any more on feed than we would have milk in a months time, and its such a rewarding feeling to provide for my family like that.
Today I looked up at about half way through the milking and realized I'd even forgotten to tie her off at the post, she was just standing there letting me milk til all I got was dribbles and drips from each teat... never moved, never fussed about it at all.
The calf, 5ft away from us in the stall definitely complained as she watched me take all her milk... ROFL.. but she's definitely NOT starving to death! hehehe
Just thought I'd share an update to our milking experience... its so worth it!!!
