The prices are great for registered Dexters, and not bad for unregistered.
I love the short little Dexters. Be sure you understand the breeding requirements of these short legged carrier cows. They should be bred to a long legged, non-carrier bull only. Ask if that's what the young one is already bred to.
Ask to see the registration papers. A number of cases have recently popped up where the cows couldn't be registered. The buyers were disappointed.
The ears should have a tattoo that matches the tattoo number on the registration certificate.
Ask about the health history of the cows. Vaccinations, medications, ilnesses or injuries?
Check the udder and teats to make sure they are well shaped.
They sound like nice cows. Make sure you visit them to make sure they really are gentle and you get along fine with them. Some people say they're gentle even though they've never been handled.
