Can a never-freshened cow have "milk"
Rosie, the wonderful Dexter that we rehomed, has settled into her new family about 3 hours east of here in the Trinity mountains. She is living with a donkey and a host of other critters. Her family is spending a ton of time with her and walking her to and from pasture each day with ease. Last September, I had Rosie AI'd and she palpated pregnant in November. Then I overfed her and caused a severe case of acidosis...shortly thereafter, about a week, I noticed a clear discharge, and forum members suggested I have her preg checked again. I did, and the vet pronounced her "open". So....shortly before selling her, I DID notice she seemed fat. I told her new family to touch her all over to continue to acclimate her for the day down the road when she would be milked (like in a year after they rebreed her). Well, they said that last night, when handling her udder, she expressed liquid with very little effort, like they weren't truly pulling on her udder. They are goat milking folks, so I believe that they weren't yanking on her teats. I did say NOT to mess with her udder anymore to keep from causing mastitis, but.....IF she were still pregnant, she'd be due June 26th. Can a non pregnant cow do this?
