Grain req'ts for milking Dexter?

Hi, I wondered if anyone here could clear up a question. My neighbor who has a Dexter mama she's milking is getting conflicting reports from both the vet and the feed store owner as to how much grain the cow should be getting on a daily basis. I know from reading that Dexters need about 1/3 the amount of total food, or about 30 lbs of grass/hay/grain/silage per day, but I can't find a specific number of pounds so my friend knows how much to purchase. I'd appreciate any help you can give me.
Thanks so much! Fiona
