cattle heat

Okay, Im not seeing any real signs of heat with Spring except that 19 days ago, I got a significantly lower amount of milk than normal... then it picked right back up the next day. And today, I got a much lower amount, and she seemed nearly empty when I stopped. SO... even if im not seeing mucus or swelling, would you still think this is heat? or should I keep watching her backside for other signs?

this is so frustrating. I marked them on my calendar, both of them, and I"ll keep watching her.... but for now this is all I"ve noticed.

I take it your wanting to AI? I have to be honest and say that when I only had a couple of cows most of the time I never knew they were on heat other than a slight drop in milk production - and that wasn't always guaranteed. No mucus, no tell-tale signs of blood, no bellowing, no nothing which is why I kept, and still do, a bull. He's much smarter at this type of thing than I am

With the 19 day gap between lowered milkings, I would say that this is when your Spring is on heat.

Cheers,
Ronnie
