New baby in our barn.

My little Dexter has a new bull calf. Here is a picture of her and son. I am really proud of the stanchion that DH built for me.

Congrats. We had our first calf today. A 7/8 Dexter/1/8 dutch belted black bull. I do not see any white all. Dam is 1/4 dutch belted/3/4 Dexter. Sire is a red Dexter. It was quite the scene with granddaughters watching. We helped with the birth as mom seemed to be having a hard time; first time mom. The calf seems rather large for a Dexter; will try to weight tomorrow, but guess is 40 lbs or so, long legs. Also, had to assist calf on it's feet and suckle. Mom just wanted to lick it to death and gave it no chance to stand or nurse. But, all is well now 4 hours later.
