Cow Milk vs. Goat Milk

I was just curious with those of you who milk, why some choose cow milk over goat milk and vice versa? Any particular reasons some picked cows milk over goat? We don't have either and are trying to decide which would be best for our family.

Thanks!

I've never actually had goats milk, and my only experience with it has been from a friend who used it with her cleft palate baby who couldnt nurse. All I remember is that it smelled funny to me, thus I never tried it. (Im really picky) So, we've gone with a cow because thats what I use and grew up on and because you cant really make butter with goats milk, the fat particles are too small to separate out well.

We are looking for some goats now too though, because we cant afford another cow and our cow isnt giving as much milk as we would like or can use. I think my children will drink goats milk without problems, and I can still make cheese and ice cream with goats milk.

We have both goats and cows. We like the milk equally. Goats milk must be pasteurized for me, but our kids like it anyway. I separate the cream on the goats milk by putting it in the freezer for an hour or so, then skim it if I want butter. We are setting up now to milk the goats, and hopefully the cow will calve by the end of the month.
For us it has been more economical to produce goat milk, but I still like our little Dexter cows better!

I like cows milk for the cream and butter. But, goats take less space and are easier to clean up after.
