Feeding cows...free choice?

We have a hanging bucket with free choice loose mineral... and a trough about 3 ft long and 1 ft deep that I filled with Alfalfa (filled and mounded up).. and then grass and clover all over the yard.

So far, unless I put some sweet feed over the top of the hay, so that Spring is digging for that, she hasnt really messed with the alfalfa.

Could it be that she is just getting enough of the green grass that she doesnt need the hay right now? or just that its different from what she was getting and thus she needs the coaxing with the sweet feed to get her trying it?

Her poop is fine, she's drinking and eating lots of grass in the yard... and of course she got her fair share or more of range cubes yesterday, so it may be that the girl just isnt that hungry... LOL

Just checking

Cattle are like that, the grass is more tastier than that dry alfalfa, which is most likely why she won't touch it.
