Baby Bull and Highland Questions

Hi,
I have a mother Highland and her baby heifer who's now ready to breed.

My first question: 1) Has anyone ever bred a pure angus bull to a Highland cow? I worry about the birth weight being hard on a Highland, even a small birthweight angus.

Question 2: 2) I adopted a bottle fed Jersey/Angus bull calf who going on about 5 months now - he's halter trained and very tame (for now!). I never fixed him or dehorned him for my own reasons and figure he'll still be OK to eat if he gets onery soon. I also sort of wondered if I could breed him at least once to my highlands, then eat him. He'd also be smaller than a pure angus (which is about all that is available where I live). Does anybody think this might work, or am I not using my head? When do Jersey/angus bulls start getting really mean? So far we've enjoyed having him but we aren't naive enough to expect that will always be

It's very difficult for me to arrange to rent a bull, but my other option is AI at a vet for the cows, costing about $350 bucks.
Thanks!

That cross is fine. You'd be surprised at the birthweight some people are getting with full Highlands today.
