Im trying so hard to be patient...

The people we are getting the cow/calf from called last week early to say they still had not heard back from the company he was moving to Mississippi with, and that she was going to fly down there on Thursday to meet with some folks and iron out some details and she'd let me know as soon as she has a firm moving date.

We are committed to buying her cows, and dh feels like we cant back out, not that we even want to really, unless she calls to say its not going to happen. But, she's already packed half her house and stored it in the storage above the barn so I dont think thats going to happen.

Anyway, I keep stumbling on deals on other Dexters... some near us, closer than her even, on Craigslist for around $800 each...one in OKC near my parents, for $500... and we cant move on anything because we gave her our word.

I guess Im just afraid we'll wait and wait and then she'll say never mind and then we'll have to start looking again.

Im TRYING to be patient here ya'll! but Im so anxious to get them home!

If i were you i would take a look at these cows you have stumbled upon. I know , as a seller myself, that I would not expect buyers to wait around on me to see if I am even going to sell them. Who knows, these cows could be even nicer than the ones you are waiting out for. Atleast take a look and see what you think. I dont think you would be doing the seller an injustice if you were to buy other cattle. I would hate for you to regret not buying these others, when she MIGHT call and say shes not moving.... Let us know what you do

So, you have committed to buying but they haven't committed to selling? It sounds like they are messing you around..a sale if and when they need one..otherwise, you are out of luck. If it were me, I would be buying somewhere else. I have found over the years, it is too hard to buy from someone who doesn't want to sell. The ball is always in their court.

I sell a lot of cattle, and I as far as I'm concerned, it's not sold until the money is exchanged. If you find some better deal, tell the woman, that you've found something else. You are not obligated to buy them, because obviously, they aren't really for sale yet !!

I'd keep looking as well. You never know if something better may pop up. If this person hasn't committed to selling then you are under no obligation to buy. If this person wasn't sure if she even was going to sell she should of never put them up for sale. All good things are worth waiting for. I'm sure your family will find it's cow.

well, they've committed to selling them to us, when they move. That is to say, she loves the cows very much and doesnt want to part with them until she is really ready to load in her car to leave, pretty much.

Not to offend, but thats a load of crap if you ask me....either they are for sale or they are not. Either your buying them or not. I would just politley call the lady and tell her that you are going to start looking around, and IF they do move and have to sell, then give you a call. This is just my opinion though....eventhough everyone else feels the same way... keep us posted

she didnt really put them up for sale... we talked to someone, the former district pres for our area who knows them and just knew by word of mouth that this lady was going to be moving and would be needing to sell them.

She had not actively gone to sell them. We drove out there to see them and she told us that she really hoped that the cows would go to someone like us....we hadnt yet given her our decision when she said that, so we talked about it and slept on it and came to our decision.

I guess a lot of it goes to personal rapport? and thats so hard to convey online....

but I think that if we dont hear something by weeks end, we'll probably start looking. If they went to MS on thursday of last week, and dont know somethign more by the end of this one, then I'll assume she really doesnt want to sell.

Even if I didnt WANT to part with my 'pets' before I really really had to, if I knew someone was waiting to buy and that I'd need to sell them eventually, I would probably just say my sad goodbyes and let them go on to their new home.

I'm in agreement with JKB. You're getting "worked" as my kids would say. I doubt the seller is deliberate but this is silly and unnecessary to put it mildly. This really gives women as business people a bad name. You need to move on. I know how we can get all dither-y and emotional about our pets but COME ON!

Nobody who cares so much where their pet livestock goes, PLANS to wait until the very last second to find them a great home! That just doesn't make any sense! Don't let her string you along. Either they're for sale, or they're not, like the others have said.

I would tell her let me have them today or give me a call when you move and I will let you know if I still need a cow. She should feel lucky she has a buyer-
but she says come get them..

well, the folks I am buying them from just listed all the rest of their Dexters on Dans 'for sale' page, but not the two Im buying.... so maybe that means they got word from the company and will call me soon.

If these werent such nice cows and so gentle, I might not be holding out, but the other cows were all standoffish and wouldnt come to the fence to be petted, but Spring would eat out of my hand and stand still for me to pet her and rub her side...

I think they're worth waiting for, but I wont be strung along indefinitely.
