New Jersey Cow
We have finally found the perfect Jersey cow. We had pretty much given up finding one and this girl just fell into our laps so to speak. Our neighbor calls the other morning and wants to know if we would be interested in his Jersey, her 1/2 holstein steer (yearling) and 2 of his goats (out of one of our bucks). He is moving and can't take all of the goats, cows and horses with him. He is taking the horses and a couple of goats.
The cow is a 7 year old with 4 working quarters. She is bred to our bull for May or June calving. She was put with the bull the first time and helped herself the second (jumped over a low spot in the fence). She milks about 6 gallons or more a day at peak. She is as gentle as can be. I was able to lay all over her. She is very easy to milk and has been hand milked. They are leading her over this afternoon and putting her in the pasture since our pastures connect.
