calves with deformed hooves

Asking for my eldery neighbor, his calves in recents months some have been born with deformed hooves does anyone have a general idea what can be the cause. He has 1 bull for breeding, keeps all the baby heifers born so could it be inbreeding starting to show up or nutrition thanks for you input

If he's breeding the bull to his grand-daughters, it could very well be a weak trait coming to surface. You can only go to the well, so many times when you're in-breeding. The reason for inbreeding is to re-enforce the good traits, but the bad ones will also magnify.
