Question How big is a heifer at 5 months? And other questions

I'd like to get a 4-H junior dairy heifer. (For our fair, that means born after February 29 of this year. I dont know if that differs elsewhere?) I've never had any cattle before. I want a smallish one so that she's easier to transport and handle.

She'd probably be a Holstein. MAYBE a milking Shorthorn.

When are cattle weaned? Would I have to bottle feed her?

She'd be about 5 months old at the fair. How big would she be then? I'm talking weight, height, width... We dont have a big livestock trailer, just a smallish sheep trailer. Would she fit in there? I dont have the exact size, but I can get that if anybody wants.

Approximately how much hay would she eat per day? What kinds of grain are they usually fed? How much?

What else should I know? Any replies are appreciated!

Thanks

but a jersey calf would be smaller still... so if you can find a jersey, you'd probably do better with a jersey

There are no Jerseys in our area. I kinda wanted one of those, or a brown swiss, but the only dairy around here are milking shorthorn and holstien. All the rest are beef.

Thanks alot, mlangfus, but I dont think I have the resources or money to get her from wisconsin to michigan. I do like the mini cattle, though! I've never seen one in person, but plenty of pictures. Even if I could get her from there to here, I'd want to sell her because I have my goats for milk. I just dont really need any more milk. I dont know if there'd be a market for her here. Plus, I know some farmers pretty near me who are willing to lease calves to 4-H members.
Thanks, though....
