new cow

I am excited a 4-Her had a Ayrshire due to calf the 21st he was going to send to the meat auction last week. He offered to sell me with payments,
So we went to get her today. She has a huge tummy. Some dung dredlocks I need to get off her but she looks real good. Nice looking udder nice and soft feeling, friendly gal. Her name is Honey-
So by the end of month I will be milking 12-
Hope milk prices stay nice-

Sounds like a good find. I went to your website. It looks great. Are you a permitted grade A dairy? Or are you selling off the farm only? The milk of 12 cows would take a pretty large clientale of raw milk lovers. That must be the benefit of "organic". Congrats on the Ayrshire!

Hi Francismilker and Heather- I have many breeds of cow-
We have brown swiss, holstiens(not milking any yet) Jersey, jersey/holstein, and milking one arysire thus far. Just added a second Ayr, waiting on a BS to calf and my holstein is due in July.
I ship my cows milk with upstate Niagara since Aug. I do okay getting preium for butter fat, protien and low SCC. i gave up my raw milk permit for cows milk.
BUT I still have one for goats milk. I think Jeff found the same thing for cow milk- big business and NY makes it hard to hold a permit. Much less low key for goats milk.
I hope to get good pics and have my web site up dated soon.

Got my cow- she is awesome and looks to be ready to calf SOON!
It is bitter cold here in NY -20 wind chill.
