No!!!

That stinker. Today was her due date and no baby. Her ligaments are a dim memory and she is bagged up. Today, she has a very long hunk of goo hanging out the back so we'll see. My wife's birthday is tomorrow and we have an entire day planned out so... naturally, she will probably go into labor as soon as we get ready to leave OR have her/him while we're out. This will be the one day that we are away from the home.

On the other hand, would be cute if he/she is born on my wife's bday.

So... note what time I'm up right now... 1:00am... cow watch.

Y'know, not to be a downer, or anything, but I had this horse once... We decided to go out for the evening, and I said these foolish words, "Well she should be fine for a couple hours at least." Got home after dinner and a movie (about 3 hours) and the foal was up, steady on it's feet, had already nursed. I think she must have started into labor about the time we reached the end of the driveway.

Well, we spent the day away and expected to see a calf when we returned but... no calf. She was due yesterday. How long can a cow go overdue and be considered ok? Obviously, 1 day is probably ok.

I had a cow go 10 days, they can go 2 weeks before you should induce labor. However I doubt she goes more than a couple days beyond her due date.

Well, you didn't go away long enough! We were feeding the cows hay yesterday on the farm, we only check on these cattle once a week, and we found a newborn heifer calf in the barnyard and when I was checking fence, I almost stepped on a newborn bull calf. He looks to be a preemie, but he's very healthy. You need to go away for a longer period of time.
BTW, my sons think it does nothing but rain in Oregon. It has either rained or snowed the entire time. They couldn't believe we had 70 degrees two days ago.. They've been hanging drywall and the younger one built a small storage building. They also got to see the coast yesterday. They said it doesn't look like Cape Hatteras, (NC) , which is where we go to the beach.
