Need some info please

I am considering trading a pistol that I have for a weaned black angus steer, the gun is valued around $350 to $400. What I am wondering is-is a weaned black angus calf worth about this much? I don't know if cattle prices are up or down now. We always raise a steer a year to eat, but it is always a dairy bull calf, and we get it from our neighbor who has a huge dairy for next to nothing. We thought we would try a beef calf this year. I haven't found a calf yet but I did put the ad in our local trader, so if someone does happen to call I want to make a fair trade. Anyone know what a black angus calf would be worth right now? Thanks

Roughly $180-$200 @ two weeks old. So with that in mind it would be a good deal...However at what age is the steer being weaned....Weaned age means many different things to many different people. If it's weaned at eight weeks old, you my be getting cheated. Shoot for a calf that's at least three months old or older....JMO

One more example that I'm familar with: I will sell a weaned @ 8 week old dairy steer for 250-300 dollars. So if you traded me your pistol than you would be taken....

A "weaned beef calf" could be anything from a few days old to 7 or 8 months old. Typically we wean beef calves at 8 months but others differ. A 8 month angus steer could weigh 600 lbs and be worth $6oo dollars. Lotta difference.
