How many calves could I raise on a 4 year old jersey? I bought one that is going to calf in july, and wanted to know if i could a couple of other calves on her? Thanks for the info

yes you should be able to, a good jersey gives around five gallon / 20+ liters a day with good feed, a calf drinks about a gallon / 4+ liters a day

Depends on the cow I suppose, and your management system. If you are going to milk the cow and feed the babies you could get away with more than if you just let the babies run with her 24/7. Our 7 yo Jersey raised her calf and a big Holstein steer for us last summer. They were on her to 6 months 24/7. BIG babies. We also took milk for the table. If you weaned earlier, segregated the calves during part of the day or didn't milk for your table you'd get away with more calves as well. Some people raise 2 batches of 4 calves on a cow during one lactation.
