what would this breed be?

I found this cow listed on craigslist and described only as "miniature cow" 9mths old named Mini-moo.

I may be interested, but I have no clue what her actual breed is.. whether she'd be milkable if bred to say.. a Dexter bull? or something...

waiting for them to email me back, but just curious what ya'll thought of her

IMHO, the white face, underbelly, socks and end of tail is typical of a simmental and hereford. The black could've come from any breed: dexter, angus, are two that come to mind. Seeing as she's polled, and the shape of her head looks typical to an angus, then most likely she'd be an Angus crossed with a mini herf or mini angus crossed with a simmi....

The possibilities of her breeding are endless without knowing her sire and dam.

The lady said she knew very little about her except that she bought her because she was "cute".. and she is moving in May and needs to sell her. She said she is 36" tall and very sweet but that is all she knows about her.

If she is 36" tall at 9 mo, I would say she may not be very "mini" when full grown. As far as her being milk-able, the kind of bull you breed her to is not going to make her any more milk-able than another. She looks to be mostly beefy, probably not good for milking for you and all your kids. The calf will take most of what she would produce and leave you with little to nothing for yourselves. I know that you would like and are interested in Dexters, small breeds because of the size of your farm, but from experience, I don't think they would provide enough milk for your family and a calf too. IMO, You need to find a smaller dairy breed cow to fit your needs. There are many Jerseys out there that are on the smaller side. We have two that are on the small side and still produce a good amount of milk.

Well, honestly, we only go through about 5 gallons of milk a week here.. Sure, we would use more if we had it, but they are only asking $400 for her, which seems like a great deal to me... but then Im new at this, so what do I know :P

She's down near Oklahoma city, so, near my folks.

I would not touch her with a ten foot pole for the purpose youmhave in mind. She would probably be a great pet, but not much of a milk or meat producer.
