Sold the '07 calf crop

Well I sold em. Took the crop to auction yesterday. Temps were -5 overnight, cold morning to load cattle but we made it. Average wt was 800 lbs. Steers brought $93.50/100 and heiffers brought $89/100. Could have been higher a few weeks ago, but then, the weights would have been lower. Now I get a spell with fewer chores till calving time starts all over the end of Feb. Sure hope this ice and cold eases up by then.

Thats a nice lot there, and I know what nice looks like These are the calves with a shot of Gelbveigh in them? You did quite well this time of year at auction. Heck, I just averaged 85 cents on all my replacement quality heifers! It was hard not to open a bottle and drown my sorrows that day, LOL!

...Your using the right breeds for the beef business and the quality is obviously there. It's almost as if you know what your doing, hehehe

Mtplainsman: I been in this business a lot of years,,hope I learned a few things in that time. I've always kept my own replacements which makes for a more uniform bunch of calves. I do like the Gelbvieh crosses and now I have a black Gelbvieh bull, so I should get a little more black color. The buyers seem to like that.
