Couple of really simple/dumb questions from a newbie

Hi all,

We have a 5 acre farm here in sunny Central Oregon. Right now we have horses, chickens, pigs, and milk goats. We are looking at getting a Dexter calf in the spring to raise up to eventually be a milker. We will be contacting breeders in our state to find out about availability. We will continue to milk the goats until the cow is old enough to breed and milk. My two simple questions: can you raise a calf on goats milk if we get a bottle baby? Does a calf or older cow need a companion? I know our goats, horses, etc.. do but not sure about a cow. If we put a goat in with them and raised from a baby would they do fine together? I am assuming yes but want to make sure. Thanks, we are real excited to have a cow for milk and some beef that is a great size for our small homestead.

Calf's actually grow better on goats milk then cows milk.
I found that if a cow has another cow as a friend they behave better. Not so bossy-
Good luck it is all fun!

Our sister's horses used to chase the cows and wouldn't let them eat but they got along just fine with the goats. They weren't raised together.
