Bloat Question

In the goat forum I read when a goat is bloated the give them baking soda and mineral oil. Can you use the same treatment for a cow?

Missy it depends on how severe the case is...Genuine bloat sometimes requires a tube sent down their throat and into their stomachs. The excess stomach gasses exits via the inserted tube. I've only had to do this once with a bottle calf years ago, I'm sure the tubing of the bloated stomach saved the calfs life. Be careful of what you feed your livestock and bloated stomachs may never occur.
