How to do a blog

Ok, so how does a person go about this blog thing? What are the benefits and can it be done for free?

By no means am I an expert, but you can check out my blog by going to The Beginning Farmer Blog. Opinions vary, but I did mine on Blog Spot and it has been very easy to use. There are other free options out there that may be more flexible, but I have found blog spot to be very easy for me. They have templates for everything and you just gotta fill in the posts and content.

As for benefits I guess it really depends. If I were running a full-time direct sell farm it would be a great benefit for connecting with customers. Mine is more of what the word blog comes from ... web log ... I use it to chronicle my research and journey to farming.

If you have any other specific questions I would be happy to help out.

Ok. I now have a blog. One question though, how did you get the link "The beggining Farmer Blog" without having the whole web address?

Okay, if you put some square brackets on either side of this little piece of code (some things like [ and then ] ) and then enter in your information where I put "your site" you should be able to get it correct ... maybe ... I think ...

URL=http://www.yoursite.com]Your Site[/URL

That didn't do it. Any other suggestions? I don't know a lick about HTML.

You gotta put a [url ... and then close it with a /url]

What you were missing is the [ at the beginning and the ] at the end (the square bracket things).

Ok. Would you happen to know why the same doesn't apply elsewhere? I tried adding one of these to my signature for out going emails and it doesn't work.

The square bracket thing is a trick used by most forum software. Real html uses angle brackets < and >, which as a result are tricky to deal with. So most BBS/forums have you type square brackets which they change to angle when they display the message.

Mailer programs don't do this, you have to type the html, and in your profile here you just type the URL and the program adds the tags.
