What have they bailed?
Our local hardware store had big bails of hay for awhile now they have bails of something....Im just not sure what it is. Its dark brown so dark that from a distance it looks like grape vines in color....Any idea what this is?

Im not sure Ive never seen anything like it. It looks thick like grape vine or wicker and its reddish brown.

peanut hay....the peanut farmers in eastern NC took a hit from the drought and some of them salvaged what they could by baling the vines. I have been buying the baled vines. Some of the better peanut hay had plenty of leaves and it looked good. Since I am desperate for hay I just accepted what was delivered.

They're baling peanut hay here, too. They're also baling soybeans that didn't make. Yesterday I saw someone offering his cornstalks in 4x5 bales.
