Dairy Market Steers

Ive been thinking about taking a steer for 4-H next year and just wanted some info on them. Is it correct that they are susposed to be born between December and February? How much does it cost to buy a calf? Does anyone know about what the approxamate costs would be to feed it for 7 months? About how much do they sell for/lb? Thanks!
