Bull that won't leave steer alone

In my pasture I have 8 cattle..... 1 bull 4 heifers (all 18 months old, white face hereford) 3 steer (all about 12 months, 2 jersey, 1 brown swiss).... my hereford bull will not leave the swiss steer alone.... He is treating him like he's a heifer..... constantly trying to mount him, following him around sniffing, licking, etc..... Is this normal? They have been in the same pasture since May, and I just noticed this happening about the last week.....

Yep, seen that happen before. If it gets to be a problem you may have to move the steer to another pen or pasture. By problem, I mean, if the steer gets injured from the weight of the bull, or just wore out from the harrassment and not gaining weight.

Thanks! It won't be a "problem" for much longer..... we are soon ready to move them all into the barn for the winter months..... The steer will be in a seprate pen from the bull and heifers...... I just didn't understand it! Was a little worried about him "liking" boys...... .... Hoping for pregnant heifers!!!! LOL

You need to send him to one of those "Gay' ok" seminars so that he knows that he's not the only one around. Nobody likes a closet gaybull.
