Question calf treats

OK. I have 2 bottle baby holsteins I am raising.

About 3 weeks ago they were completely weaned off the bottle and are on grain. I want these girls to be really tame so I can use them as nurse cows.

One of them is very shy. So I thought I could do them like you do horses and have some treats to feed them by hand to help tame her.

So has anyone tried this? If so, does anyone have some good treat ideas/recipes?

Our calves and cows love slices of bread, apples and carrots. Also corn on the cob. And don't forget chopped up squash and pumpkins.

A load of bread from the day old bread store is cheap! And my critters ALL come running when they hear me come out.

Cake... Sunflower cake...cottenseed cake...cattle cake...range cubes...whatever it is called where you live. Can get it by the sack at your local feed store, or ...by the ton It is great nutritionally for them and they all love it. Some types are softer than others and you can always break a piece in half for younger calves. Always used it to halter break my steer when I was young in 4-H. Each winter it amazes me to see hundreds of cows running full speed towards the cake truck at one time.
