Best way to halter train a grown Jersey cow

Sorry about the barage of threads and questions here.

Our 4 year old Jersey cow used to be halter trained (so I'm told) but is decidedly not any longer.

I was able to use a halter, with a chin chain, to get her from the trailer to the barn but had her calf as bait. The calf is leaving tomorrow and it will just be Violet and I.

I have her in a barn stall right now so she can get used to us and our place. However, I would like to put her in the pasture and/or stake her out. I have left the halter on her and, for now, when I feed her, I clip a lead rope tied to the stall wall onto it. While she's eating I handle the halter a bit, pull on her a bit with it. I think she's getting used to the feel of it but I doubt she will follow me if I lead her. I thought about just staking her out. Will that help? Since baby boy is leaving tomorrow, I'll have to milk her every day now and am afraid to turn her loose in the pasture for fear that she won't be caught.

Any advice?

When her udder is full, she will willfully go into the headgate to be milked. Trust me on this one - full mammary glands is NO FUN!

While she is tied up, be sure to brush her well, it just feels good! We've trained never-before-in-a-halter 3 yo Jerseys to be tied out comfortable in 3 weeks. Keep the halter on her, continue tying her to the stall. You'll both do fine.
