squeeky inflations

I have brand new inflations and they squeek, I was told that squeeking causes milk to rush back into the teats, causing mastitis. I switched Inflations and they still make the noise. They do this on all the cows and not in the end all the way threw right from the beginning.

ANY ideas?

Thanks- Liz iN NY

Hi Liz,
Somebody can correct me if I'm wrong but milk rushing back into the teats sounds a bit far fetched to me. When you say you switched inflations, do you mean back to the old ones or to another type.

If it is of any help, I often get that squeaking sound with new inflations and I can assure you that my cows don't get mastitis as a result. However, do ensure that the inflations are a good fit and the sound isn't because air is being sucked in. Do you have a vacuum guage on your line? That will tell you if air is getting in.

Cheers,
Ronnie

Are they the proper inflations for your shells?
Are they a decent brand? Not some cheapies from the farm store?

Squeaking does not cause the milk to go back into the teats but will degrade the performance of the milker, and may cause impingment which is where the milk may splash onto other teats causing cross contamination if you have 1 or more quarters with a higher count.
