Highland baby and Dexter pic...

Up North talked about the cows they saw at the zoo... here is one of the baby Highland, and I found out that my dh works with a guy from Newkirk who raises Highland,...Im thinking we need to work out a barter with him and get us one of these!!!

Thats the Dexter in the background next to an unknown breed...I am sure they had it listed, pineywood maybe? not sure... but the Dexter and the Highland were the ones I was aiming for

Maybe Milking Devon? That little baby is too cute we had a farm here that had one one year but she died of pneumonia, She was cute as a button I got upset when the owner told me she had died. Highlands are one of the breed I keep researching and there is a farm near here I want to take the kids to that raises them for beef. Also I am lucky in finidng another place that has milking Devon, another breed I am looking at. By the tiem we can b uy property my SO is in trouble I will prob have a plan all lined up..

might be the Devon... they had those too, and looking up Piney wood cattle they are the redish spotted on white color... they had several different varieties in the same area, so without reading all of the plaques I wouldnt know them all.

Dh is really interested in the Highlands now though.

Was that at the Wichita zoo? I love their farm animal exhibits! Anyone interested in livestock who passes through Wichita needs to visit the zoo there. It is fantastic! Also has a great collection of native Kansas animals.

The dark red one is the Devon. The Piney Woods was much smaller and a light red and white color.
