How often?

1) How often do I have to deworm my Jersey cow? I use Sydectin, and pour it out on her back. Does somebody use Sydectin? My vet told me that this is the best dewormer for gairy cattle. Do worms get used to this medicine after a whike or they don't?

2) How often do I have to bredd my cow? It has been 3 years since she was bred. I didn't want to breed her evry year. What do I have to do in order to keep her milk production at the same level?

Thank you

In order to milk a cow must be bred and calve.
She should be bred back every year, it is safe and natural. And her production will go away if you don't. I am very suprised that she is still milking after 3 years actually.
Directions for redosing should be on the meds you are using or your vet should know, not familiar with that one.

I loveeeeeeeee them one! I hear at all the times with goat people just starting out!

"What do you think a herd of cows/goats do when in a wild herd? Their is usally a head herd member, who they all fall under in. this is a male most times. Now if their is a male in the herd. Do you think he won't breed them since they had a kid/calf in the spring??? NO!!??!!?!? It is God's way to have animals to be bred almost every year. (Almost means some animals like dogs and cats should take a break! 10 - 15 babies drinking off you is very hard to put up with! )"

Cydectin pour-on kills worms, but also deters lice, mites, mange, and flies on the exterior of cow as well. I should think once every 6 months would be a reasonable course of action.
As the others have mentioned, cow will have to be bred if she is to calve and produce milk. You could breed cow to have 2 calves in 3 years(every 18 months) and still get satisfactory results.
If you have been milking the cow 2 years and 3 months since she last calved, it would be best for cow to dry her off and let her rest.
