Normal Charges for Dexter Bulls Service?

I have a registered Dexter Bull and I have someone interested in his stud services for their Jersey cow. Does anyone know what the going rate is? She is going to bring the cow to our place and provide the hay for her. Thanks

I think it really depends. I know people have charged anywhere from $50 to $150 per cow.

I am sure that doesn't help much, because of the wide variation, but it seems to depend on the breeder.

I guess that I would say between 25-50, you don't have to feed the cow, so it's not an expence to you. I paid within the range I quoted and was guaranteed an in calf cow or a free service.

We have had heifers come to our place for our bulls to service and we have had our heifers (and rams) brought to other nearby farms for visitation. We have never been charged nor have we charged anyone for such services. We're just neighborly in these parts, I guess.... Not even a fee for a fella to come and ai.....

Come to Kentucky!!

I should mention the prices I listed were if the cow stayed at the bull's owner's house for a few heat cycles. So the paying of hay or taking the bull would be cheaper.

We just loaned out a bull and figured they fed it, we only charged I think $25 and they feed the bull while breeding.

Hope that helps

Our neighbor is getting a bull over to his place and we'll put our two girls with his herd for 25 each and a round bale! LOL
