computer feeders

anybody use the computer feeders that feed the cows by a transmitter you put on there neck........Does it work very good or is it a waste of money i can buy one cheap ...tjm

It's because the censors in them go out easily and often, they are $$ to replace and a pain in the...

We replaced a lot of the drive components in the feeders themselves. Even having them under a roof didn't keep them from gumming up and stripping gears and stuff.
Had the occasional collar go out but never any big problems with the reader in the feeder.

With a lot of them here, the cows soon learned that if they pounded on them just right, they could get extra grain. Also the boss cows tended to keep the others from getting any grain at all. Lots of them rotting in the fencelines now.

thanks bunches...thanks for all the feed back...now i know why the man has had them for 3 years and they have not sold....and i really don't need to have more rusting in the fence row.......tjm
