Tips on Cows giving birth?

I have only a LITTLE info with cows! I have done the basic things on my uncles farm, But a friend of my family is looking at me to do some odd chores and help with claving. I know how to castrate and disbudd. But I just need to know some TIPS on what to look for! when they look close to claving.

Any web-sites with pictures??

Um, I'm not certain what you are asking. Are you asking about assisting a cow during calving?

My tip would be to get Texas Longhorns and they will take care of themselves.

The vulva will visibly swell, and they will begin to bag up. At this point they may calve in ten minutes......... or ten days.

With active calving they will begin to strain. Some cows will seek a hidden location to calve so if you have a cow that appears to be trying to hide that is also a good sign.

Well I guess raising goats will give you most of the hints! I thought some would be different. They are WHITE FACES (hereford) But their is one black cross, Not very beefy more dairy! But she has horns! I think to guess 10 cows at the most. Only 1 has had a calf so far and it's almost time im told!

Whats better then watching a cow give birth and GETTING PAID??
