There was no warning that it was going to be shut down, other than the continuous reminder that it would be shut down if it failed to pay for itself. It's my understanding that the board cost $100 per month to operate. The administrator paid this out of his own pocket at first, then began accepting ads and contributions. I bought two ads and made a small contribution in order to keep it running. I liked the board because it was so easy to read the archives and the people on the board were so nice and knowledgeable. I'll miss it, but don't really blame him for shutting down. His only connection to Dexters was that his father owned some Dexters and asked him to help set up the board. He was really quite generous with his time and efforts, considering that.
I'm really sorry that we lost the archives. Almost every question that might arise had been answered by knowledgeable people. It was so handy to be able to read back or refer newbies to the older posts. It's a shame we can't get them back.
