Dakodan board??

Anyone have any ideas on where this board went? I stopped posting on it myself. But the info was very useful and valuable.

Hi Woodspirit,

No it just shut down with no word even to the moderators.

Most of the Dexter Chatter has moved to www.dextercattleADCA.com

How long ago did it shut down?
I quit going there when I realized that the owner wouldn't let me post. I think it had to do with the fact that I never sent money to support it. I don't have Dexters, so I figured why send money. I was/am interested in learning more about them, and I found the folks who do have them to be really fine people.

Hi Woodspirit,

It shut down about 3 weeks ago. You shouldn't have had to send money to support it anyway. I thought that was always silly. I never could ever figure out why that board needed so much money. Most boards run free of charge, and even if they don't the advertising should pay for it no busier than that board was.

Thanks
Dan

There was no warning that it was going to be shut down, other than the continuous reminder that it would be shut down if it failed to pay for itself. It's my understanding that the board cost $100 per month to operate. The administrator paid this out of his own pocket at first, then began accepting ads and contributions. I bought two ads and made a small contribution in order to keep it running. I liked the board because it was so easy to read the archives and the people on the board were so nice and knowledgeable. I'll miss it, but don't really blame him for shutting down. His only connection to Dexters was that his father owned some Dexters and asked him to help set up the board. He was really quite generous with his time and efforts, considering that.

I'm really sorry that we lost the archives. Almost every question that might arise had been answered by knowledgeable people. It was so handy to be able to read back or refer newbies to the older posts. It's a shame we can't get them back.
