fly control question

I've got the spot administered long term fly control stuff for horses, you know, the one that is put on at the poll on the back and on the legs and it provides fly control for 14 days? IF I've got a cow that is not in milk (so no residues for people) and is not preggers, can I use it on her? She is miserable and the fly spray isn't doing as much as I'd like. This stuff is labeled for horses, so I'm not sure...I think it was permethrin or pyrethrin.

Do you have good luck with the spot on treatments for horses??? I never had it last more than a day or two if I was lucky!!!! but I was still crazy enough to get a product that could be used the same way for the cows!!! It didn't last either, so I just ended up spraying it on!!! What I got for the cows is SYNERGIZED by Durvet. it is a pour on insecticide. Says it can be used even on lactating dairy cows. The person that told me about this stuff has very good luck with it!!! But it didn't seem to work for me. But anyway the ingredients

Permethin: 3-(phenoxyphenyl)methyl
(+)-cis, trans-3-(2,2-dichloroethenyl)-2,
2-dimethylcyclopropanecarboxylate 1.0%

Piperonyl Butoxide Technical 1.0%

other ingredients 98%

I won't recomend that you use the horse treatment. But I won't say not too. Compare the the ingredients, and do what you feel is right. I think I have special flys that just seem to love stuff other than one it is first put on!!!
