Can you ID this grass please?

My cattle won't touch it. They will eat everything else to the dirt, but won't touch this grass.
It's not really a big deal. I'm going to rehab this pasture now, but I am curious.

Here are a couple of pics:

Thanks for the help.

Is it a sedge of some variety? I can't really tell from the pics. Google "Yellow Nutsedge" and see if that comes close.
try: http://www.weedalert.com/weed_pages/wa_nutsedge.htm
or: weeds.cropsci.uiuc.edu/.../Yellow%20nutsedge.jpg

No, this grass stays shorter. Maybe 14 to 18 inches max. That's a decent guess.

So, cows don't eat it because it's tough?

I think this is what you are seeing and yes cattle will not eat it unless there is nothing else. Cattle will readily eat johnson grass. With the drought we are experiencing my cattle would eat both at this time. If this is what you have the easiest way to get rid of it is to try to grow it, lime and fertilizer will wipe it out.

Bingo! I think agmantoo may have it. I really thought a member of the sedges. Cattle will readily eat Johnson grass in my experience.

if its only 14-18 inches tall its not Johnson grass, also if your Johnson grass is like it is back in Kansas if you have a drought you dont want the cows to eat it anyway as it gets Toxic from too much Nitrogen or something, causing bloat like eating green alfalfa,

at least thats what my RangeManagment and Nutrition teachers in Collage said,

my guess is some sort of Prairie grass, but i am not sure. do your cows eat it?

Cows won't eat it at all.
It doesn't really look like the Johnson grass pics.

I'm going to try catching one of the cattle guys close by and ask them. If I can, I'll post back on it.
