Oh wow, it did work. this is my DH with our litte 1/2 jersey and 1/2 holstien girl. She was born in Jan. and is so sweet. We are totally new to dairy cows and this was just something we fell into when a friend sold us two of them for $25 each when they were born. We love them though and can't wait to learn how to milk. OK, since I know nothing about them. You dairy folks tell me what's good and what's bad about her.

From what I can see of her she looks good. It is still a little early to be able to nit pic on things. Once she is done growing then you will know a lot more about her. But as of right now you all did great in raising her. One word of advice if you all are going to try and milk her start now with feeling around under the belly and back between the legs. She will get use to you doing this and should be a little bit easier to milk.

Wow, you fell into something and came up smelling like a rose and with a gold nugget in each hand. I would love to buy a bunch of them at that price. The way dairy heifers are selling it's more like she paid you to take them away than you buying them.

It's goats you have to learn how to milk. Cows are a breeze (except for the ones that kick LOL).

thank you. this was an accident. The guy we got them from raises dairy cows and sells them just before they give birth. We had this huge ice storm back in the winter and he couldn't get them to the buyer. Wouldn't you know it, some of the calves were born and he was not set up to raise them. they are friends of ours and we had been asking for a long time to let us know if he ever had any for sale. He called us that morning and said we had to come get them right then, ice and all. Our daughter-in-law threw a blanket down in the back of her SUV and off sliding she went. It was so cute when she got home, they were all standing and looking over her shoulder as she drove. We got five and I was wrong, the boys were $25 and the girls were $50 but still a steal. We just sold the boys at the sale barn but are keeping the two girls. We have them spoiled. I was just wondering if they look more jersey or holstein. I know the color is jersey but what about their head and body?
