bumps on face of steer

Hi, I'm a newbie to cattle. I have a 6 month old Angus mix steer. He is living in the field with a Jersey steer. The Angus has about 6 bumps on his face-maybe the size of a dime, raised up and greyish, dry, almost looks like a callous. The Jersey has nothing like this. Anyone know what this is and what should I do about it? He got these before the horse flies seemed to get bad-of course, the flies may have been worse in the field because it is nearer to water so could it be bites from those vicious horseflies?

Thanks,

Harplade

Those are warts. Eventually they will go away on their own.

they are ringworm and will go away. around here the young cattle get them when they are confimed during spring when it is rainy and muddy. You can treatthem for them but they shold go away.

My vote goes for warts. They commonly occur in angus especially. They will eventually go away on their own, or sometimes I painted them with iodine to speed them up.

http://cattletoday.info/warts.htm . could be either one. Without seeing them, from your description, I still vote for warts. Results are the same, should clear up on their own.
