How Wonderful

The Good Lord had heard my prayers....

I've been wanting to get a couple of milk cows to raise from bottle up. Yes, I know it will be a long time before I get milk, but I want the experience of rasing them too. I've been want jersey crosses or brown swiss crosses, since I really can't sink a heap of money into the full blooded kind, especially since I want three or four. Well the Good Lord has seen a cattle farmer my way. I can get a couple of Holstein/Jersey crosses and and couple of Jersey/Brown Swiss crosses; they are all bottle babies. He's going to sell them to me for $50.00 a piece.

I'm so excited.. I can't wait to get them.

If it pans out, you got a steal. I paid much more than that for my Jersey heifer, Secret. She is worth every penny, and I'm just thankful somebody was willing to sell me a healthy baby. I consider her a bargain.

That is great news. I am a firm beliver in the crosses as they tend to me more healthy and robust than pure breeds. It will be a long wait for a return on your investment but when you get that fresh milk and healthy calves for the future beef or heifers to trade/sell it pays off fast. Let me know if I can help in anyway.

Crosses or not, if you got dairy heifers for $50 each, you got the deal of the year.

Not only is it good to hear someone say they've been blessed, it's good to hear them honor God for the blessing instead of saying it was "fate" or "good luck" that got them what they wanted. I'm proud for you! Hope things go great with the raising of these critters. If it doesn't, someone on this board should be able to lead you through all kinds of animal health issues......
