hay or corn. cost question

in my area we only have t&a right now at 9.30 per bundle. i have 1 pair and 3 small hiefers. i live in fl and we dont have much rain right now and the grass is growing slow. i have been giving the cattle hay but its only t&a and its 9.30 per. i am wondering if i would be better off with whole corn instead. its 8 per bag and they can graze for the rest of their food. comments?

I could be wrong, but I think the whole corn would go right through them without giving them any protein. You may want to get cracked or ground. Others more knowledgeable may give better advice.

Make sure they are getting their roughage. Thats the fuel cows thrive on.

Corn will come through a cow whole, but the cost of processing doesn't offset the return you get.
