poor treatment of animals need advice

Im not a better than tho kind of "hobby farmer" My animals are not in a palace and I dont call out the vet for every little thing. The guy down the road Im appauled at his critters conditions. I know one for a fact has HUGE festering migrating sores on her udder and side. She has lost her hair and it a HUGe red nasty pussie sore. I dont know what happend to all the calfs. The manure is up to the "knee" joint some are limping seirverly. they cannot get out of the manure sun or rain. they have less than 1/2 acre Id say more like 1/4 acre for about 15-20 full grown animals (cattle). Yes they have hay and water but the sores are not being treated and Im angry. every year it just gets worse.
My main question is should I report him and if so to whom? We know him and he is not a kind person.

Can you check with your local extension agent that handles the cows? Ours here is a very conscientious fella and would check out the complaint before elevating it to someone he could and should complain to. Are you on good terms with that fella? Talk to him! Or your local vet that handles bovine..... You have to tell someone!!!

Does your county have an Animal Control Officer? He should be called. If not, try the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture.

We had a similar situation with a person who would not feed his horses through the winter. Then he planted half the forage they had in pine. By the end of winter, the horses were looking like walking skeletons. We don't have many official animal control people in our area so I think quite a few complaints about him were filed with the ASPCA. They got the state to take a look at what this guy was doing.

Long story short, the state took the horses, and I don't think he can legally own a horse anymore.

You may consider sneaking into this cow owners house while he is gone and taking all the food out of the cabinets and putting it down at the cow lot, taking mud out of the cow lot and putting on his bed sheets, and replace the antibiotic cream out of his home first aid kit with ecoli infested meat. He may start wondering if he's seeing a "sign" from up above and straighten his act up!
