A few years ago I asked a fellow the same question, "How can crossbred cattle be 'registered'"? He told me that anyone could start a registery and for any kind of cattle. It does seem like everytime a person turns around today there is a some new "breed" being "registered". Then too, some registries will accept an animal that is at least half of whatever that particular breed claims to be registering.
