Is she pregnant??

Hi,
I have a jersey heifer that was A.I.ed back in December. We watched her like a hawk for any signs of heat the next few months. All seemed fine. Today she tried to jump by dear hubby out of nowhere. She is not bellowing or anything else though.
Is there anything I can do to verify pregnancy or do I need to have a vet check?
Thank you
Faye

Like the female of the species homo sapiens, just because they are pregnant does not mean they are devoid of urges or hormones. One isolated incident of jumping would not lead me to the conclusion that she is no longer pregnant.

Yeah, might have been just playing. Used to have a heifer like that, and her heifer would do the same a few years later.

LOL; cow safe in calf but mounting anyway

If there is a cow in the pasture in heat the other cows, pregnant or not, will sometimes mount her.

Do you suppose your husband smelled as if he might be in heat?

Funny you should say that. It has always seemed that my cow is in love with my husband. He has always been the main target of her affections. He thought it was cute until she tried to mount him last year. I had a good laugh. The look on his face was priceless
