WTB young bull calf

We bought a bred Jersey but she miscarried a few days ago. She usually has a single bull but this time it was twins and DH said one looked 'wrong'.

Our goats are delivering and she's trying to steal babies. So we're looking for a bull calf for meat. DH has gone to a small auction, talked with local amish plus Jersey and Angus breeders; either they are weaned, had heifers not for sale or birthing is months away.

Can anyone give any tips on locating a calf or has one for sale? We are located in Illinois but Dh will be in Missouri this Sunday. Thanks,

Kelli

Check with a local dairy in your area; they are all the time ready to get rid of bid calves around here.

I thought about that and even did a computer search to try and find one. Nothing came up Dh's grandparents had run one so I figured something would have come up for Illinois. Thanks, Kelli

Try calling your county extension agent to see if there are any in your county. If your area is like ours, most dairys are in decline. If this does'nt help, contact DFA. "dairy farmers of America" They buy a lot of milk in the midwest and could probably let you know where the closest dairy in your area is. You can find DFA on the web pretty easy. I've done it a lot of times.
