Unhappy poor little bugga bug

ah our littlest one got her wee hoofie stepped on by the looks of it

we cleaned and dr it daily but got worse instead of better

had vet out to look at it, seems likely never to be 100 percent if gets better at all....

3 weeks of antibiotics before we know for sure

she has absolutely gorgeous conformation, small angular frame...tho chocolate instead of fawn, was looking forward to seeing her as an adult....

Is this a little Jersey? I'm so sorry My Belgian draft filly- all 1400 pounds of her- rolled a 10 week doe kid on Saturday. I watched the whole thing. That little kid was right under Dragonfly's left front hoof. The kid wasnt using the leg at all. Leg was totally limp as I waited for the vet who didn't show die to other emergencies which were more urgent than mine. Sunday no vets make farm calls but Sunday afternoon I saw the kid use that limp leg to scratch her head. By Sunday evening she was putting weight on it. Seems Dragonfly didn't step on her at all. Kid is walking almost normally again now. I hope your calf recovers completely.

the cut was healing just fine, its almost gone, but the infection got into the joint aparently.

yes she is a little jersey, the finest boned one we have had. big fat eyes on a little triangle head.

she was very friendly untill all the iodine and stuff, but she likes the oral meds its grape flavored, and the shot doesnt bother her...I hope she makes a recovery.

Hydrogen peroxide the wound as well, and not sure if your giving her strong antibiotics, but something to fight it out of the joint. Our red holstein, well the cow (since we have a heifer as well), broke her leg in December of 05. She went on very heavy antibiotics, because ther skin did break where her joint was. Never got infected, but it was likely because of the antibiotics, she did heal. You cant tell she broke it, but if I point it out, it can be seen. It might be fine, vets generally wont say "Yeah, its going to be great". Because they dont want to be responsible if she doesn't heal right. So keep out of it, sounds like a show type calf, by the way you described her. With her age, it could be a good thing, hopefully she doesn't develop arthritis or a joint problem later on. Good luck.

we had kept it clean, it is now almost healed up almost with out a scar.

she is on a course of 2 strong antibiotics, this is 36 hours after starting course, so it is looking good, wish we had started antibiotics imediately but it looked like a simple scrape.

Jerzeygurl,
It is good to hear the news about the little one. Please post a picture sometime and make the rest of us jealous. She sounds beautiful.
